Tatro Therapeutic Massage Review and Giveaway

coupon

I’ve know Jackie Tatro of Tatro Therapeutic Massage since grade school.  I recently ran into Jackie and we got to talking about her business as a massage therapist.  Because stress and pain are no strangers to most of us, I was really interested in learning about Tatro Therapeutic Massage for Gina’s Kokopelli readers.   I’ve had several massages over the course of my lifetime, and they’ve all been different.  I was curious as to what set Tatro Therapeutic apart from the rest.

When I arrived at City Snippers salon in Meriden, Connecticut – where Tatro Therapeutic Massage is housed – I was really pleased to see the salon was clean, neat and well decorated.  Jackie met me in the front waiting area where she had me fill out a very brief questionnaire.  I was then led into a small but beautifully decorated massage room.  After I undressed and laid on the table, I was pleasantly surprised to find the table was heated.  This was a new experience!  Jackie then draped heating pads on my upper and lower back.  I felt completely cocooned in warmth and it was difficult not to drift off to sleep; that’s how comfortable I was!

When Jackie worked on me, she asked me if the pressure she was using was too soft or too hard.  This was another first.  Never have I been asked if the pressure was right.  I like that Jackie asked because most people would be too apprehensive to correct the therapist – me included when I was younger!  I’ve been beaten up and also rubbed with what felt like indifference.  Both suck.

It is really apparent that Jackie is very serious about her work as a massage therapist.  She spent several minutes working out two stubborn knots in my shoulders that have been there forever.  Jackie never gave up and was able to banish them.  Boy, did that feel great!  One of the best parts of the massage was when Jackie wrapped my feet in hot towels and then used hot stones on the bottoms of my feet.  That was heaven!

At the end of my 50 minute massage, I was thoroughly relaxed and exceptionally pleased with my experience.  AND I wasn’t greased up like a pig chase at a county fair!  I was able to put my clothes back on without worrying about staining them.

You can’t do better than to book your next massage with Jackie at Tatro Therapeutic Massage.  Not only is she excellent, she also the cheapest game in town.  Any 50 minute massage – Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Myofascial Release, Orthopedic, Pregnancy, Sports, Swedish or Cancer/Oncology – is only $55!  In my land of Frugality, that’s AWESOME!

If you want to pay even less for your massage, just mention Gina’s Kokopelli to Jackie when you make your appointment, and you’ll get an additional 10% off through April 30th, 2013.

BeJeweled Board Game Review and Giveaway

I am very fortunate to be one of Hasbro’s bloggers, so from time to time I get to review a new game for them. This time, I was sent Bejeweled. I’ve been playing Bejeweled online for years, and I was very excited to receive the board game version of this game.
Once a week, I monitor my students in a structured study hall. I thought this would be a great time to introduce Bejeweled and see what the students thought of the game. The first person to get excited about the game when I introduced it was one of my staff members. She loves playing the game online and immediately took over. She and two of the students read the directions and quickly began playing. At the end of the 45 minute period, the students didn’t want to stop playing! They were really into it.
I watched the entire game play and thought it was fun. The premise of the game is very simple. You have to match at least three of the same color in a row to “win” a coin of that same color. Once you earn three sets of three coins of the same color, you win the game. If you like playing Bejeweled online, you’re going to love playing this board game with up to three of your friends. And if you’ve never played before, you are going to love it as well!
If you would like a chance to win one of the Bejeweled board games for your family, just enter below.

Carmex Lotions Review and Giveaway

A while back, I received  lotion from Carmex to test out.  I absolutely LOVED it.  Because I was sent two tubes each of both the Healing Cream and Hydrating lotion, I gave one each to my mom.  She’s been hooked on the stuff ever since.  When Carmex recently contacted me about doing another review and giveaway, I knew the perfect person to ask to write up the review – Mom!  I already love Carmex products; now Mom can tell you why she does.

My dermatologist, a great lady with a fine sense of humor, once said to me, “You have icky skin.” We all know the common definitions of icky: disgusting, repulsive, yucky. Well, you get my drift. What the dermatologist noted at that first meeting is that I have dry, flaky skin, a curse I’ve been battling forever. Over the years I’ve tried a lot of creams and lotions to ward off the scaly skin look, particularly on my hands and legs, but none came close to the results I now get from products manufactured by Carma Laboratories in Wisconsin.

I’ve been using both the CARMEX Healing Cream and CARMEX Hydrating Lotion for about a year and am very pleased with the results. I apply the concentrated Healing Cream on my legs after a morning shower and before bedtime; I use the Hydrating Lotion (with Aloe and Vitamin E) on my hands several times throughout the day. Both are non-greasy and are quickly absorbed into the skin. I especially like that neither product is heavily scented and because I use only a small amount for each application, a tube of cream or lotion lasts a long time. In addition, these are VERY affordable, over-the-counter remedies one can find at most pharmacies.

Yes, I still have – and always will have – an icky skin problem, but CARMEX goes the distance for helping to keep at bay the dry skin look. So pick up a yellow tube or two and pamper your skin with CARMEX Healing Cream and CARMEX Hydrating Lotion. Your skin can only look younger and healthier.

If you would like to try Carmex Healing Cream or Hydrating Lotion, you can get a $1 coupon for these products from Carmex’s Facebook Page.  You can also enter to win a tube of each below.

CreatMyWalls Photo Canvas Review and Giveaway

canvas pic

Recently, I was contacted by CreateMyWalls.com and asked if I would do a review on their canvas prints.  Because my friend Donna is a much better photographer than I, I offered the opportunity to her.  Here’s what Donna had to say:

Being an avid photographer, I am always looking for creative ways to display my work.  I have used many different sites to purchase a myriad of photo products.  I had the opportunity to use CreateMyWalls to purchase some canvas prints.  I have never used this site before and was anxious to see the end result.

I really liked the ability to select a wide range of sizes.  With some other sites, I have been limited to certain print sizes and forced to crop my photo.  CreateMyWalls let me select a size that accommodated my entire photo without cropping.  In addition, the selection tool showed my exactly what my photo would look like in the size so I was able to adjust the size until I found the exact look I was looking for.

I also had the choice of different canvas thicknesses and the option to apply different finishes such as sepia or oil canvas.

This site does not offer the option to make a collage.  You are limited to just one print per canvas.

Logistically, there were minor issues.  I received a welcome email when I set up an account as expected.  When I wanted to log into my account to check the status of my order, I had a few issues. I looked at the email they originally sent me and called the phone number listed on the email.  The number was incorrect so I sent them an email inquiring about my order to which I never received a response.  I did also inform them that their phone number on my welcome email was incorrect.  I managed to resolve my issue with my account and took a look at my order to find the information they give is limited.  I wanted to know my exact order so I could replicate it for another order.  They don’t give you the sizing information and I found I had to guess at what my order was based on the pricing.  It also did not have an updated status.  Even today, after being delivered, my order shows as “processing”.

I received my order a total of 11 days after I placed my order, not an excessive amount of time to wait.  My order was delivered on a Saturday, which I did not expect and was pleased to see.

They packaged the canvases very well, protecting them from damage.  They are a nice quality and look great.  Overall, I was pleased with the process.  There could be some improvement on the logistics side of the order process but the overall quality is good.  The pricing is better than some of the bigger sites.  But the other sites also let you store your pictures at their site so you can order other products.  Unless you reorder the same exact print, you will need to upload your photo again.

I would, and already have, order another canvas print from them.

I’m looking forward to seeing the new canvas Donna ordered!  These came out so beautifully.  If you would like to order a canvas print for yourself – and just in time for Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations – you can get 35% off your order when you use the code SOCIALM35OFF.  You can also enter below to win $90 worth of free canvas prints (including free shipping)  from CreateMyWalls!
