Want something easy, fun and delicious smelling for your tree? Try making cinnamon ornaments.
1.5 Cups of cinnamon
1 Cup of apple sauce
Yarn or String for hanging
Mix cinnamon and apple sauce together. Knead well. The mixture should be the consistency of dough. Roll out between wax paper until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on a cookie sheet. Punch a hole through the top of each piece with the straw. This is the hole for the string. Bake at 200 degrees for about 1.5 hours. They should be dry by then. If not, just bake a little longer.
I have also done these with cookie molds. For these, you just press the cinnamon dough into the mold and then bang the mold on the table or counter to get the dough out.
The smell of these ornaments lasts a really long time and can be regenerated by taking a piece of fine grit sandpaper and rubbing the surface a bit. If you take care to pack these away carefully and make sure they don’t get damp, you’ll have them for years! These also make great little gifts and cool “extras” to put on a wrapped package.*This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more information.*
