On Thursday, my husband called me at work to say the gas dude had just left and had red tagged our furnace.
Me: “What the heck does that mean?”
Hubby: “It means our furnace is dead and we need a new one.”
Me: “$%$@%&*^%$$!!!!!!!!!!! I thought he was just going to clean the $#@% thing!” (I sorta have a potty mouth.)
Hubby: “Apparently, the furnace is cracked or something and has been admitting carbon monoxide into the air. It was only a matter of time.”
Me: “How much?!”
Hubby: “I have no idea. The gas guy said anywhere between $2,000 and $6,000. I have calls into three companies to get estimates.”
I will spare you the rest of the conversation. Just know I said a few more four letter words before we were done talking.
Today, the new furnace AND water heater are being installed. The workmen are here now putting them in. All I can say is thank goodness I insist on having an emergency fund for things like this. I hope never to have to use it, but emergencies do happen. Before I insisted on saving for things blowing up, I would always worry about what we would do if the refrigerator died or the car needed an expensive repair. That was a lot of stress on me, and it doesn’t work just telling me not to worry about it. That’s like telling the sun not to shine.
Do you have an emergency fund? What have you had to use it for?

In that time, one of the roadblocks we encounter over and over again is people who are wary of signing up with an online rewards site.
“Will they sell my information?”“Are they going to install spyware on my computer?”“Will I get a virus?”These concerns are good ones to have. You should always be smart and protective of your private information. However, Swagbucks has grown and continues to grow each day, week, month and year because every day we work to earn and keep the trust of our users. Here are a few facts about Swagbucks:- We have over 7 million users on our site- We’ve distributed over $37 million in rewards over the last five years- We don’t spam you or sell your information- While you can choose to install our toolbar or programs via Special Offers, we do NOT install software of any kind on your computer. We have a team dedicated to making sure that our Special Offers are not deceptive or dangerous, and we work with our users to assure this. We have the best customer service team on the planet. Frankly, I’ve never worked somewhere before where our decisions day to day were based on what will create the best experience for our users. To me, the fact that we’re accredited by the BBB is little more than a confirmation of what I already know: Swagbucks is the real deal. The only way you’re going to learn that for yourself, though, is to give us a try.
