I was recently contacted by the makers of Pyure Sweetener and asked if I would do a review of their product. Since I wasn’t familiar with this product, I decided to go ahead. I was sent two boxes of packets for coffee and a bag of the product to use in baking. My Sister-in-law was visiting just after I received the product, and I told her about the review. Apparently, she had been using this product in her coffee for a while and had been wanting to try the bakeable product. Since I’m not much of a baker and she is, I opted to pass the review on to her. Below is what she has to say about Pyure:
I have been a Pyure user for about one year now, after switching from Splenda brand artificial sweetener due to my doctor’s recommendation that Splenda is bad for stomachs. I have primarily used Pyure in coffee and tea with wonderful success. The degree of sweetness is similar to that of sugar, without the aftertaste found in some other artificial sweeteners. So, naturally, I was very excited to try the Bakeable Blend of Pyure.
The recipe I chose to use Pyure in is a banana muffin recipe that I have used for years. I used the same cup-for-cup measurement of Pyure that I would use of sugar. While mixing my muffin batter, the first thing I noticed was that my batter was very thick, about twice as thick as my normal batter. The batter tasted similar to the batter made with sugar, perhaps a bit less sweet.
After the proper baking time, I noticed that the muffins had a “dry” appearance when I removed them from the oven (normally there is a moist-looking top). The muffins tasted much less sweet than normal, almost giving them a bland flavor. The trade off is saving calories in the Pyure muffins, versus sugar-sweetened muffins. I would have to say that I am satisfied with this product, but will try it in other recipes to determine if I will use this product over the long run.
Pyure seems like an excellent choice in sweeteners, especially if you are watching your calorie or sugar intake. I also think it’s a huge plus that this product is all natural AND comes in an organic variety.
If you would like to try Pyure, you can order it from Pyure’s website or enter below to win two 40 count boxes of the packets and 1 large bag of the bakeable blend.

I have not tried Pyure. In fact, until this review I hadn’t heard of this brand before. I use various sweeteners but have been very slowly making a switch to non/low calorie, natural options.
