Just before Thanksgiving, I receive a huge care package from Wholly Guacamole and Cabot cheese. The care package was stuffed full of guacamole, salsa, and four different Cabot cheeses. I was very excited because I knew exactly what I was going to do as the review. I only had a week to go until Thanksgiving, and I thought it would be perfect to serve everything as appetizers and get my guests’ take on what they thought. I already knew I loved Wholly products and Cabot cheese. What would my guests think?
I polled the crowd and found out only two had ever had Wholly guac or salsa before, and ten of my 14 guests had tried Cabot cheese. I put a platter of of guacamole, salsa, cheese, and crackers out about an hour before dinner, and it was decimated within 25 minutes. I saw my guests dip the cheese slices in both the guacamole and the salsa, completely forgoing the crackers I had served. When polled, my guests really loved the salsa, guacamole, and cheese and thought everything went really well together.
The day after Thanksgiving, we used the remaining Wholly guac, salsa and Cabot cheese (I didn’t put everything out!) with leftover turkey to make omelets for dinner. After I poured the scrambled egg into the pan, I added shredded turkey and thin slices of jack cheese. I finished the omelet with a dollop of salsa and one of guacamole. To. Die. For! I called their office…NOT GMO free either.Knudson is a part of Smuckers which is GMO.
Trader Joes supposably has juices that as long as a product has their name on it, its non GMO.
SO Frustrating. I have spent hours looking to find all non GMO food. some of them are honest about it. Some try to be sneaky.
Cabbot and Knudson at least told me the truth.
In France and Germany they don’t even allow anything GMO Almost every country labels it, except the U.S.A
Michael Taylor, a former V.P of Monsanto (GMO company)is one of the leads over the FDA, and if you look all the others up in the FDA they are former employees and bio engineers. If you live in California and you saw commercials saying the FDA does not approve of prop 37 (To label GMOs) THAT is why. THe fox is in the henhouse.
Just so you know…I called Cabbot today asking them if they are Gmo free, before I looked at your article. What they told me is that the cows are at many different dairies, and are fed pellets with who knows what in it,corn (NOT gmo free from what I was told on the phone) and grass. I WISH it was organic and GMO free. As to Wholly Guac, BEST guac EVER. And I also called them. They ARE GMO free. I ALWAYS call companies before I start eating anything. Its a giant pain, but the way I have felt (Nevermind the studies on infertility, and cencer, asthma etc that GMOS have caused.This is a great article… http://foodmatters.tv/articles-1/the-truth-is-out-on-genetically-modified-foods-and-its-not-pretty I will stay away from Cabbot.
