Savingstar Becomes Coupons.com As of 11/30/20

Well, we’ve had a good run with Savingstar, but their time is over. As of November 30th, Savingstar will be no longer. Make sure you empty your account by then so you don’t lose whatever funds you have. The news, however, isn’t all bad.

Coupons.com bought Savingstar and has folded it into their app. You can now download the Coupons.com app on your phone. With the new Coupons.com app, you can save on all your favorites with cash back offers — these are much like the rebates you’re used to, but better:

  • Use them at ANY retailer that provides itemized receipts.
  • Skip the receipts and link your store loyalty cards for automatic cash back (1,000s of stores to choose from).
  • Get cash back with NO minimum balance — your money will go straight to PayPal*, and you can grab it whenever you need it.

Sound familiar? If you said, “Yes, this sounds just like Ibotta and Fetch combined!” then you are a winner. Basically, the new Savingstar turned Coupons.com app will be pretty much be the same thing. You can shop at any store and scan your receipts (like Fetch) or link your store cards (like Ibotta) to get cash back.

The only hitch with the Coupons.com app is you must have a PayPal account and link that account with the app. Your cash back will get deposited directly into PayPal.

I’ve surfed around the new app a little and the one thing that concerns me is that you can’t use paper coupons with the offers. Still, at least we’ll get cash back (free money!) on items that have no paper coupons.
